What is Kampfinsel? #

Kampfinsel is a persistent multiplayer browser game inspired by the great German browser game classics of the 2000s. You take control of an island in a world made of nothing but ocean and jagged rocky outcrops.

Your goal: survive, grow, expand. You construct buildings, gather Gold, Stone and Wood, train troops, and dispatch fleets across the open sea. Alliances with other players are just as decisive as your own military strength.

The game runs fully asynchronously -- your island produces resources and your fleets travel onward even when you are not online. There are no sessions, no rounds. The world is persistent and shared among all players.

First Steps #

When you register, you receive an island with a small stockpile of resources and a Main Building. From here you build your empire step by step:

• Build resource structures -- Gold mine, quarry and lumberyard produce the three basic resources
• Upgrade your Main Building -- it unlocks new buildings and features
• Erect defenses -- Walls and watchtowers protect your island
• Research at the lab -- Technologies improve your troops and ships
• Build a harbor -- this lets you build fleets and ship goods. You can trade with the Phoenician before that

The quest system guides you through the key steps and rewards your progress.

The Game World #

The world of Kampfinsel is divided into oceans, which contain grids, which contain islands. Every island has a unique coordinate. Distances between islands are real -- a fleet needs actual time to reach its destination.

New players enjoy 14 days of beginner protection. During this phase you can build up your island in peace without fearing attacks. If you attack an active captain, or create or join a combined attack against a player or a player-held fortress, your protection ends with that action and does not return. A captain who has requested deletion and is leaving the world also counts as an active captain until then. Before any such action, a warning always appears and you must actively confirm it.

Tips for Beginners #

• Invest in resource production first -- nothing works without resources
• Build a warehouse early to protect your stockpiles
• Check in regularly -- short, frequent sessions are more effective than rare marathons
• Join an alliance as soon as you can
• Collect your flotsam -- early on, the sea washes something onto your beach more often; after that it slowly becomes as rare as for everyone else
• Use the quest system as a guide for your next steps
