How Beachcombing Works #

The ocean is fickle, but occasionally generous. At irregular intervals, items wash up on your island's beach. You will see a notice on your island page when something new has arrived.

New captains find more. Early on, the sea washes flotsam onto your beach more often. Later it gradually becomes rarer, until you find flotsam as often as everyone else.

Beachcombing items disappear again if you do not collect them in time. You have a window of time before the tide carries them away.

Each find has its own lifetime starting when it washes ashore. That time keeps running overnight, so an older find can disappear before morning.

Reward Types #

What the sea brings depends on chance:

• Resources -- The most common find. Gold, Stone or Wood, sometimes in larger quantities.
• Double resources -- Occasionally the haul is especially rich.
• Build-time bonus -- Rarer but valuable: the next building upgrade on the island where you collect goes faster. The bonus applies once and does not expire. It is removed if the island changes owner.

Account age can affect resource amounts early on. Smaller finds do not necessarily come right at the start; later the same range applies to everyone.

Beachcombing Notifications #

You can enable an email notification in your settings that alerts you when new beachcombing items wash ashore. This way you miss nothing, even when you are not in the game.

Daily Orders #

Besides beachcombing, a daily order waits for you every day -- a small bonus task that changes daily. How it works and how to claim the reward is explained in the chapter "Quests".

Strategy #

• Check in regularly -- Beachcombing items expire if you ignore them
• Enable notifications -- Especially useful if you are not constantly online
• Check your storage -- Make sure your warehouse has room before collecting
• Treasure Hunter quest -- Collecting beachcombing items counts toward the Treasure Hunter quest path
