Some walls are built from habit. Others from pride. The capital wall is both.

In short: Your main island's laboratory has a special protection.

- During attacks, the main-island laboratory cannot fall below level 10

- Other islands don't share this protection

- The shield is automatic — you don't need to do anything

Capital fortress #

Your main island holds a special place in your empire. It's where you return after every defeat, where your research lives, and where your political identity sits.

So that one lost fight can't dismantle your entire research scaffolding, v0.35 introduces the capital fortress: when your main-island laboratory takes damage in combat, it never drops below level 10. A reduction to level 0 cannot happen on the main island.

What this means in practice #

• On side islands, a laboratory can still drop to level 0 — research there carries more risk.
• On the main island, the floor is 10. Even after several losses you keep a research-capable minimum.
• The protection is recorded in the battle report. When triggered, you'll see a corresponding note.

Strategy #

• Keep research on the main island — the shield makes it the safest research home
• Plan production too — the plan reserve on a main island is more robust because the laboratory rarely falls below the plan production threshold
