Discord verification
# Discord verification
Kampfinsel has an official Discord server where captains exchange ideas, alliances conduct their diplomacy, and recruitment is coordinated. So that it is clear there who is behind which Discord account in the game, the Discord verification exists.
How to verify yourself #
1. Connect your Discord account in the settings under \"Linked Accounts\". 2. Join the Discord server: https://discord.gg/9Q65aWMbeN 3. In the settings, under \"Discord verification\", click \"Verify on Discord\".
You will then receive the Verified Captain role on the server. In addition, your server nickname will automatically be set to your in-game name — your global Discord name on other servers stays completely unchanged.
Why verification matters #
A significant portion of Kampfinsel communication happens on the Discord server. Three areas benefit particularly from verified accounts:
Alliance recruitment. When an alliance wants to recruit you or you want to recruit someone, the preliminary conversation often happens over Discord. Before the application is formally submitted in the game, you want to know who you are negotiating with. A verified identity is the foundation.
Diplomacy between alliances. Alliances forge pacts (allied, non-aggression pacts), declare wars, and exchange secret intelligence. All of that requires a trustworthy negotiation environment — a treaty is only as good as the word of the two sides who close it. If you cannot be sure whether you are really speaking with the leader of the other alliance or with someone impersonating them, a treaty has no value.
Internal coordination of an alliance. Defense calls, attack timings, strategy discussions — spoken on Discord, executed in the game. You must be able to trust that the person on the other side of the channel really is your fellow alliance member, not a spy with a deceptively similar name.
Verification creates an identity bridge: anyone with the Verified Captain role AND a server nickname matching an in-game player name is provably that exact player. Identity fakes are thus excluded — no one can pretend on Discord to be another captain.
Recommendation for alliance leaders and diplomats #
Conduct your negotiations with verified accounts. When in doubt, ask whether your counterpart is verified — the information is immediately visible on Discord through the role and the nickname. Treat unverified accounts with caution, especially when it comes to alliance-internal information, pact details, or attack coordination.
This is not a requirement, just a recommendation. But: every trustworthy agreement begins with both sides knowing who they are speaking to.
What happens when... #
- ... you unlink Discord in the settings? The verification role is automatically revoked, the nickname reset.
- ... you are sanctioned in the game (banished)? The verification role is automatically revoked. For a temporary suspension (arrest), the role remains.
- ... you delete your account? The verification is ended before deletion, the role revoked.
- ... you have a server admin role on Discord? Server admins cannot be renamed automatically by the bot. You will receive the role, but must set the nickname to your in-game name yourself.
